This serial killer thriller stars Oscar-winner Angelina Jolie as Illena Scott, an FBI profiler who heads to Toronto to help the local PD with a curious murder case. Once there, she "has a positive reaction" to the one man (Ethan Hawke) who can identify the apparent psycho and that's going to complicate things.

A brutal and shocking opening segues into a tense first hour here which, despite following a rather tired formula, certainly provides a couple of 'jump out your seat' moments which should send audiences scurrying behind their sofas.

Also boasting a score by Philip Glass, some spooky opening credits and a great supporting cast, including Kiefer Sutherland, Olivier Martinez, Jean-Hughes Anglade and Tcheky Karyo, Taking Lives is one very much from the Se7en mold and, although it does get a bit silly towards the end, it's still a gripping watch.

Extras include a Crime Lab documentary, a gag reel and the trailer.
