The worst movie mistakes of 2011

Even films like The Hangover 2, Transformers and Harry Potter have glaring errors

Movie shoots take a loooong time, with days sometimes needed to film just a few seconds of footage. As such it’s not a surprise that continuity errors creep into almost all movies – even the biggest Hollywood blockbusters.

We love spotting movie changers, but not as much as Jon Sandys, who runs highly addictive site moviemistakes.com. We asked him to pull out some of the best errors from last year’s top blockbusters.

    'Bridesmaids'
One of the most successful comedies of last year wasn't perfect. Here's Annie - played by Kristen Wiig - toasting Maya Rudolph's Lillian for the second time. In the close shot, she is holding the microphone in her left hand and a champagne flute in her right. The camera goes to audience, and when it is back to her, the flute and the mic have switched hands. In the next wide shot, the are back to their original position. See below...

    Handful... 'Bridesmaids'

'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1'
An eagle-eyed 'Twilight' fan noticed that when Bella (Kristen Stewart) calls Rosalie (Nikki Reed), you can briefly see the cell phone screen before she puts it to her ear. The lock screen is still visible, showing she didn't dial anything.

    'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol'
In Tom Cruise's fourth outing as super-spy Ethan Hunt, the finale sees him battle the villain in a car park. One problem: the cars are all left hand drive (especially the ones involving the main action), but the sequence is set in India, where the cars are right hand drive!

'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2'
It's one of the most profitable films of all time, but that doesn't mean it's error free. Watch the epilogue scene again. You'll notice that when the older Harry and Ginny see off their children at Kings Cross Station, there is a shot of Big Ben. There are two different times on the sides of the clock.

    Limitless
In Bradley Cooper's decent 'magic pill' flick, the rules of gravity don't seem to apply. In the scene when Eddie (Cooper) is hiding with the golf club, there is a blue chair which got knocked over during the murder. But a few minutes later when he peeks round the corner to check for intruders, the blue chair is magically standing upright again.

    'Unknown'
Watch this Liam Neeson action drama and you might notice that during a scene when he crashes into the river, he bangs his head on the glass. He gets a scar on the right hand side of his head, but during the following car chase scene, the scar can be seen changing sides from left to right on a regular basis.

    'Transformers: Dark of the Moon'
This robot-in-disguise sequel was named 'The most mistake-ridden movie of 2011' by moviemistakes.com, so this is just one of many errors spotted by fans. When Sam (Shia LaBeouf) and Dylan (Patrick Dempsey) are fighting, the clock behind them changes to different times every shot. It starts at 00:40, then 02:25, 00:15 and 11:00 in the following shots. Maybe it was a transformer. See below...

    Shame-faced... 'Transformers' sequel

    'The Green Hornet'
This so-so update of the classic TV show featured a rogue beach ball. There's a scene when Reid (Seth Rogen) and Kato (Jay Chou) are fighting by the pool and the beach ball falls off the chair when they land in the water. Magically it's back up on the chair in a following shot.

    'The Hangover Part II'
During this comedy sequel, Bradley Cooper's Phil bizarrely calls Stu 'Ed' during a sequence when they flee the Russians with the monkey. The reason? His co-star's actual name is Ed Helms.

    'Fast Five'
In this mental petrol-head flick, there's a scene where the gang steal four brand new Police spec 2011 Dodge Chargers. When Brian (Paul Walker) and Dom (Vin Diesel) yank the safe out, the Chargers they're driving have suddenly become the older spec, with the old tail lights. Han (Sung Kang) and Roman (Tyrese Gibson) are seen driving the correct, new Chargers later in that chase. Weird!

Spot the coke can in ZULU?
      • Gem 3 months ago
Well yes didn't you know the Zulu invented the coke can but didn't have anything to put in it, it was later stolen by the fiendish - English - Baron Von Can who saw an opportunity to make fizzy drinks, and took his discovery to the Americas where he was -sadly- beaten to death with a rubber chicken
      • Gary 3 months ago

And has anyone else noticed that the "Fine Structure Constant" isn't constant, that the Universe expands according to how good our telescopes are, and that light acts as either a particle or a wave depending on how you look at it?
      Oh wait....that's real life.....

If you want to see some rubbish, then watch the syfy channel. In one movie, hurricane winds up close, but background shows little if no wind and almost every movie is flawed.

There are shots of Big Ben? Impossible. Big Ben is the big bell INSIDE the clock tower.
      Another mistake.
