Tintin sequel planned for 2015

Spielberg reveals he will produce the film while Peter Jackson will direct

Steven Spielberg has said his sequel to 'The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn' will start shooting later this year, with a planned release for 2015.

He also revealed that he and Peter Jackson will be swapping roles for the next film.

“Peter Jackson is directing the next one, I’m producing,” he told the Times of India.

“We have a script and we’re going to start performance capture probably at the end of this year. Don’t hold me to it, but we’re hoping the film will come out around Christmas-time in 2015.

“We know which books we’re making, we can’t share that now but we’re combining two books which were always intended to be combined by Herge.”

So while it's not known which books Spielberg will be using as source material, there is, as always, speculation.

Anthony Horowitz, who penned the Alex Rider novels, is writing the script, rumoured to be adapting 'The Calculus Affair'.

It was thought that 'The Blue Lotus' would be the next instalment, in which Tintin battles drug smugglers in Asia, but Spielberg has said that will most likely be the third film.
