Uncanny first posters for X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Stewart and McKellen meet McAvoy and Fassbender in cross-over promo posters.

The first official (and rather awesome) posters for ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ have landed online, giving us a convincing cross-over between Xavier and Magneto’s older and younger selves.

Patrick McAvoy? Michael McKellen? Is that you?

[Confirmed: Wolverine to time-travel in Days of Future Past]

Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, the slightly creepy combination of Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy as Professor X is pretty spot on, but it’s Ian McKellen/Michael Fassbender’s Magneto hybrid that’s got us a little weirded out.

Kudos to 2011’s ‘X-Men: First Class’ casting department. Now we’re impressed.

‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’, directed by original trilogy helmsman Bryan Singer, finds the X-Men fighting to survive in a future where mutants have been hunted almost to extinction by man-made robots, the Sentinels, whilst the survivors rot in concentration style camps. The solution? Send one weary mutant (now confirmed as Wolverine) back in time to prevent the nightmarish future from ever happening.

‘Terminator’ rip-off? Not really. Comic book legend Chris Claremont penned the original two-issue story line back in a 1981, three years before Arnie went looking for Sarah Connor.

‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’, co-starring the mammoth mutant cast of Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore and Peter Dinklage is out in the UK 22 May 2014.
