Warner Bros rumoured to be planning 'Harry Potter' Quidditch movie

Rowling to adapt 'Quidditch Through the Ages'?

A Quidditch movie? Now, we can't have that! Somebody slap the referee!

Following on from the buzz around J.K. Rowling's upcoming Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, it look as though Warner Bros have more plans to return to the wizarding world in the works.

According to Bleeding Cool, the studio has taken out several trademarks that hint at future movie projects.

Among these trademarks are other Harry Potter properties including Rowling's book Quidditch Through the Ages, fictional Quidditch teams Wimbourne Wasps, Chudley Cannons and Kenmare Kestrels as well as fictional Quidditch expert and Quidditch Through the Ages author, Kennilworthy Whisp. The Tales of Beedle the Bard has also been trademarked.

Earlier this year, Rowling auctioned an annotated copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone that told of how she invented the sport.

"[Quidditch] was invented in a small hotel in Manchester after a row with my then boyfriend," the author wrote alongside the text. "I had been pondering the things that hold a society together, cause it to congregate and signify its particular character and knew I needed a sport.

"It infuriates men...which is quite satisfying given my state of mind when I invented it."

While there has been no confirmation as to the movie studio's future plans, the move certainly suggests that the studio is thinking about adaptations of Rowling's companion projects.
