Warner to re-shoot 'Gangster Squad' after Colorado shootings

Scenes in the film showed gunmen opening fire on a cinema audience

Warner Bros is reportedly planning re-shoot scenes from its new period crime thriller 'Gangster Squad' following the cinema shootings in Denver last week.

It has also removed the trailer from circulation, due to a scene in which machine gun-wielding agents open fire on an audience from the other side of the projection screen.

According to Variety, it's now thought that the film, which is due to open on September 7 in the US, and then in November in the UK, will have to start re-shoots to make up for the missing scene.

This may take some doing, considering the schedules of its stellar cast, which includes Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Nick Nolte, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

The move comes after 12 people were killed and more than 50 injured when a lone gunman opened fire at a midnight screening of 'The Dark Knight Rises' at a cinema in Denver, Colorado on Friday.

24-year-old suspect James Holmes appeared in court for his first hearing on Monday.
