Twilight fan dies at Comic-Con

Woman was run over outside convention centre

A 'Twilight' fan has been run over and killed at this year's Comic-Con event.

The woman, known among the film's fan community as Gisela G and now identified as 53-year-old New Yorker Gisela Gagliardi, had been camping outside the San Diego Convention Centre since Sunday in wait for the 'Twilight' panel on Thursday.

Gagliardi was crossing Harbor Drive outside the centre when she tripped and fell in front of a car.

After sustaining serious head injuries, she was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

It's thought the 67-year-old man driving the car was not at fault and won't be charged over the accident.

One of the stars of the film Nikki Reed, who plays Rosalie Hale, tweeted: “This is horrible. So sad. I'm speechless.”

Meanwhile, a statement from the film's producers said: “Lionsgate, Summit and the entire 'Twilight' community are saddened by the death of a Comic-Con fan today due to a traffic accident during the hours leading up to this year's convention in San Diego.

“Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim's family and friends. She will be respectfully remembered this Thursday in Hall H.”

The annual event draws sci-fi and comic book fans from all over the world to the convention centre to hear news of new film releases and meet stars.
