'G.I. Joe 2' stuntman dies

A stuntman has died on the New Orleans set of 'G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation' in a bizarre accident.

TMZ first reported that locally hired crew member Mike Huber was working on tearing down the set in a high-powered scissor lift when the machine tipped over and he sustained fatal injuries.

An investigation has now been launched into an accident, which happened on 22 November.

Paramount insisted that the safety of cast and crew is top priority and they are “fully cooperating with all investigating agencies as they examine the circumstances surrounding this unusual accident.

â€œOur thoughts and deepest condolences are with the Huber family at this time."

In October, 2010 a stunt car accident went wrong on the set of another Paramount movie - ‘Transformers 3’ - almost killing a locally hired extra.

More recently a stuntman was killed on the set of Sylvester Stallone's new movie 'The Expendables 2' in an explosion.

The ‘G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation’ cast includes Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, and is a follow up to the 2009 original.

It’s set to be released in the US on June 29 2012.
