The Misfits (1961)
This film was written by Marilyn Monroe’s husband of four years, playwright Arthur Miller, as a vehicle for her to lead but it only ended up causing friction in their marriage. They divorced not long after the shoot, in 1961, and she died a year after its release, but it’s still considered by many her best performance.
