16-bedroom hexagonal castle once owned by King Henry VIII for sale in Kent
A sprawling hexagonal castle where King Henry VIII once lived has just gone on the market in Kent for an eye-watering £15 million.
Chilham Castle, which was originally a fortress built in 709 AD by Wihtred King of Kent, certainly has some stories to tell. As well as being home to the former King of England in 1539, the castle has been inhabited and owned by several others including Saint Louis King of France, King Edward I and King Edward II.
Impeccably decked out, the interiors are fit for an aristocrat. You'll find a sweeping staircase, clashing prints, eye-catching wallpaper in every room, grand chaise loungers, warm colours, plush furniture, and a generous scattering of art and antiques. With an illustrious history and utterly grand interiors, it certainly is a place of genuine enchantment.
