20th Century Fox unveils new logo

Movie studio goes for minimalist look.

You’ve seen the 20th Century Fox Logo in front of countless films, from ‘Star Wars’ to ‘Titanic’. But the familiar gold pedestal with klieg searchlights has had a radical overhaul.

See below.

It’s come as part of a reorganisation of New Corp by Rupert Murdoch. Fox News, Fox Broadcasting and the former 20th Century Fox film studio have been rolled into one organisation called 21st Century Fox.

In a memo to staff, Murdoch wrote:

“Today I am proud to unveil our new logo, which serves as a powerful symbol of the inspiration and high bar set by our company. Like our name, the logo reflects the rich creative heritage of Twentieth Century Fox and signals the promise of the 21st century and our restless drive toward the future.

“Ultimately, our new logo celebrates the powerful commitment of you and your colleagues to the excellence and innovation that will propel 21st Century Fox forward.”

Film fans will be sad to old logo retired. It’s been parodied several times, such in 'The Simpsons Movie' and in this glorious recorder version.

The familiar trumpet blares have been replaced by weird beeping sounds (think ‘The Clangers’) and the whole effect is modern, minimalist... but perhaps a bit dull.

Last year rival studio Universal unveiled a new logo to celebrate their 100th anniversary.
