5 youths arrested, 6 under investigation over fight in Bedok

SINGAPORE — Five male teenagers have been arrested for the suspected involvement in a case of unlawful assembly and voluntarily causing hurt following a fight in Bedok North on 22 March.

The youths, aged between 14 and 19, are suspected to have been involved in a fight along with six others that took place in the vicinity of Block 542 Bedok North Street 3, said the police in a news release on Sunday (28 March).

Four other men, aged between 24 and 37, along with two female teenagers, aged 16 and 17, are also under investigation for voluntarily causing hurt, the release added.

Police said they received multiple calls at around 11.45pm concerning a fight at the location that involved more than 10 people. The 11 suspects were later identified and brought in for investigations. 

Those convicted of being part of an illegal assembly face a jail term of up to two years, a fine, or both. Those convicted voluntarily causing hurt face a jail term of up to two years, a fine of up to $5,000, or both.
