Aaron Taylor-Johnson Reveals Boozy, 'Self-Destructive' Past
The 'Kick-Ass’ actor says wife Sam Taylor-Wood saved him from wild younger days.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the 23-year-old star of ‘Kick-Ass’ and this summer’s ‘Godzilla’, says he used to smoke like a chimney and drink "non-stop” before he met his 47-year-old wife Sam Taylor-Wood.

"It was a lot of crazy s*** I got up to for a couple years," Taylor-Johnson told Nylon magazine. "I was pretty self-destructive at one point.”
“I used to smoke 30 [cigarettes] a day, used to f***ing drink nonstop. I’ve always been able to be on the f***ing edge—be on the line, but then pull myself back.”
He credits his relationship with Sam Taylor-Wood for curbing his wild partying habits, saying "I stopped when I met Sam.”
The couple met on the set of Taylor-Wood’s ‘Nowhere Boy’ in 2009. Aaron played a young John Lennon in the artist-turned-director’s warmly-received feature film debut.

The pair married in 2012 and have two young children, Wylda (3) and Romy (2).
Taylor-Johnson, who part-adopted his wife’s name, is also step-father to Sam’s two children Angelica and Jessie from her previous marriage.
Sam is currently working on the movie adaptation of the best-selling erotic novel ’50 Shades of Grey’ which stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Jonhson.
Aaron will be seen next in this Summer’s ‘Godzilla’ and is currently shooting ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ for release next year.
‘Godzilla’ is in UK cinemas from 15 May, 2014.
