The world of TV and film loves a shared universe, from the Arrowverse to the MCU and The Conjuring universe to American Horror Story, but now another has been thrown into the mix.

Actor Lewis Tan is the architect behind this particular theory which connects three TV shows from the AMC TV Network: Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and Into the Badlands.

The British-Chinese actor, who stars in the latter series, has appeared in two cinematic universes already thanks to his roles in Deadpool 2 and Marvel’s Iron Fist.

Now he’s suggested on Twitter that these three AMC shows are linked and it all begins with Walter White and Jesse Pinkman’s dabblings in narcotics.

“The blue meth from #BreakingBad caused the zombie apocalypse in #TheWalkingDead and 500 years later, in a sort of rebuilt society, a mutated form of the walker virus is called “the gift” on #IntotheBadlands,” Tan tweeted.

There is already a theory going around that connects Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, called “The Breaking Dead theory,” because of a few Easter eggs that seem to appear in the latter series.

A red Dodge car appears in both, and is coincidentally driven by a guy called Glenn, Darryl has spoken of an old drug dealer who used the phrase “I’m going to kill you, bitch!” which is something Jesse would’ve said, Merle’s drugs look a lot like the blue meth produced by Walter and some have speculated that Gus Fring becomes a zombie at the time of his death.

Now Tan is adding Into the Badlands to that theory by suggesting that “the Gift” – dark chi powers that makes an untrained user go berserk and attack anyone nearby when triggered – could be an evolved form of the walker virus.

He also suggests that his character, Gaius Chau, is a descendant of Glenn and Maggie, the beloved couple played by Steven Yeun and Lauren Cohan in The Walking Dead.

And that the lack of guns in Into the Badlands is a consequence of the decline of society caused by the walker outbreak in The Walking Dead too.
