Adaptive Studios Signs Viral Blogger-Dater To Book Deal

EXCLUSIVE: Adaptive Studios, which recently rebooted HBO’s Project Greenlight with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, has signed an overall deal with actress-writer-blogger Amy Main to develop and adapt her viral blog 40 Dates & 40 Nights into a book, with possible expansion into other media.

L.A.-based Main started the blog following a breakup. She relied on Tinder to find her 40 dates in 40 nights, setting rules to ensure she didn’t jump into anything too quickly. The blog recounts her experiences on a roller coaster of dates: a third date flies her across the country for a night at off-Broadway’s immersive drama Sleep No More; another finds her discovering it’s a first date’s 30th birthday (um — too young or too old?). Main’s dating games can be read at fortydatesfortynights.com and her reflections on the experience can be found in her Los Angeles Times column.

Adaptive says it plans to develop the title for film or TV, potentially as a digital series. “Amy’s writing is both honest and humorous as she describes life after a very bad breakup, and we instantly saw its appeal,” Adaptive Studios CEO Perrin Chiles told Deadline. “We have no doubt that ’40 Dates’ the blog will translate in its modern, intimate quest for human connection to a very appealing Hollywood story.”

Says Main: “I’m thrilled that my tale of finding Mr. Right among many Mr. Wrongs has inspired such a wonderful opportunity.Adaptive is the perfect partner to expand 40 Dates beyond a blog into multiple ways to tell my story.”

The deal, says Chiles, is the first fruit from Adaptive’s successful campaign for the launch of Silence Of Six, which included a book trailer, fake blogs and staged protests in NYC and L.A. Other current projects include YA books Coin Heist and children’s book Adventures Of Black Dog: Beached Whale.
