Aidan Turner Holds ‘Talks’ To Become New James Bond

We’re still not certain if Daniel Craig is actually going to step back into James Bond’s tuxedo. But if fervent speculation is anything to go by then it looks as though ‘Spectre’ might be the last time we ever see Craig as 007.

That’s because, fresh from rumours that Damian Lewis will become the seventh actor to ever play James Bond, and Tom Hiddleston’s recent declaration that he’d jump at the opportunity to do so, we have a new contender for the part.

The Sun, via Metro, has alleged that Aidan Turner has already “held preliminary talks with Bond producers” about becoming James Bond.

The source for the publication went on to add that since the Irish actor is now in LA it will “give him a further chance to discuss the role.”

Obviously, this news has to be taken with a rather huge dose of salt. But the rise of 32-year-old Aidan Turner over the last few years certainly suggest he is in with an outside shot of landing the coveted iconic role.

The Dubliner previously rose to fame thanks to his role as Kili in all three of ‘The Hobbit’ films, while he’s also known for his work on ‘Being Human’, and in the recent BBC adaptation of Winston Graham’s ‘The Poldark Novels’.

However, the safer bet is still on the likes of Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, or Idris Elba, each of which have already expressed interest, and have a bit more movie pedigree than Aidan Turner.

Even this trio are still in the dark over their chances though, because Daniel Craig might just turn around and decide to have one final whack at the role, too. Especially since ‘Spectre’ was only met with indifference.
