You know the college football season is getting close when the preseason polls start rolling out.
The first of that bunch is the USA Today Coaches Poll, which is voted on by 65 FBS head coaches. Unsurprisingly, defending champion Alabama leads the way with some other usual suspects — Clemson and Ohio State — coming in at Nos. 2 and 3.

Georgia, fresh off an SEC title and a runner-up CFP finish, comes in at No. 4. Despite losing Heisman winner Baker Mayfield to the NFL, Big 12 champion Oklahoma is fifth while Washington, Wisconsin, Miami, Penn State and Auburn round out the top 10.
The Top 25 includes five representatives from the SEC, Big Ten and Big 12, four from the ACC, three from the Pac-12, one independent, one from the AAC and one from the Mountain West.
