Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's DC movie Black Adam has cast a rising star ahead of getting the camera rolling.

As stated in The Hollywood Reporter, Marwan Kenzari has been cast in an undisclosed role. He previously played Aladdin in the live-action remake of Disney's Aladdin in 2019, and starred in Netflix's The Old Guard opposite Charlize Theron last year.

The superhero flick is a spin-off from the critically and commercially successful Shazam!, focusing on Johnson's titular supervillain. He's basically an evil version of Shazam, while the film will also feature the Justice League counterpart the Justice Society of America.

Black Adam was originally pencilled in for a December 2021 release date, but because of the pandemic, the start of filming has been pushed back until April. That means that the film probably won't be out in December, if we're being honest with you.

The film also stars To All the Boys I've Loved Before star Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, while Person of Interest actor Sarah Shahi has teased that she could be playing a character called Adrianna Tomaz, a love interest for Black Adam who gets bestowed with superpowers.

Meanwhile, One Night in Miami actor Aldis Hodge is playing Hawkman, and has joked about trying to keep up with Dwayne Johnson's intense workout regime, stating: "Every time I see him I feel like he's gained 100 more pounds."
