They show Steve Coogan’s embattled presenter, rifle in hand, looking rather desperate on Cromer Pier.

We’re not sure how Alan got into the ridiculous situation, but we know that he’s set to ‘battle a media giant’ in the plot – when his local digital TV channel is taken over and renamed ‘Shape’.

Explained writer/director Armando Iannucci: "He's on North Norfolk Digital, which is taken over by a bigger media conglomerate and has its name changed to Shape.

"And that kicks everything off."

Partridge has history when it comes to gun use, of course - he accidentally killed a guest with an antique pistol on an episode of ‘Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge’.

‘Alan Partridge: The Movie’ will see many popular characters from the various TV series’ return.

Felicity Montagu will return as Alan’s faithful PA Lynn and Tim Key is back as Sidekick Simon from the more recent series ‘Mid Morning Matters’.

Simon Greenhall returns as ex-Forces garage worker Michael, while Phil Cornwell will again play Radio Norwich DJ Dave Clifton.

Colm Meaney (‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’) and Sean Pertwee (‘Event Horizon’) will also join the cast.

The film is currently being shot around Cromer and Sheringham.

The release date of ‘Alan Partridge: The Movie’ is provisionally 16 August 2013.
