Alec Baldwin confessed he felt "strange" going back to work for the first time since the death of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

The 63-year-old actor is filming independent thriller 97 Minutes on location in Hampshire in the UK, where he has been photographed having dinner with journalist Martin Bashir.

Baldwin posted a video diary on Instagram from his hotel bed saying: "We had our first day today which is always tricky. You go to work and you forget what you're supposed to do. I was just like, 'What do you do? What is acting or any of this nonsense.'"

It was the 30 Rock star's first day working since the death of cinematographer Hutchins in October last year, who died after being shot with a prop gun, held by Baldwin, that had been loaded with live ammunition on the set of the independent Western.

Baldwin said: "It’s strange to go back to work,”

“I haven’t worked since October 21st of last year when this horrible thing happened on the set of this film.

“We had the accident and the death of our cinematographer Halyna Hutchins – I even still find that hard to say."

He added: “But I went back to work today for the first time in three and a half months… it was interesting… I miss my kids.”

The Glengarry Glen Ross star has six children under the age of eight with wife Hilaria Baldwin.

He went on to say again how much he missed his family, adding it was a "nice day, nice town I'm in".

Baldwin is staying in Alton, Hampshire while he films 97 Minutes, directed by Timo Vuorensola. The film follows a hijacked aircraft set to fall from the sky in 97 minutes when it runs out of fuel.

He was pictured leaving an Indian restaurant on Sunday evening with BBC reporter Bashir, his former colleague at US network MSNBC.

He said: "Movies are almost always the same - everybody's young compared to me.

"The crew of the movie are hardworking, on their feet all day, in an unheated building I might add. It's tricky to get everything done in the time you have."

Baldwin added: "I'm going to be here for a few more days and then who knows what the future will bring, I hope good things. Then I get to go home and see all my little people and one big person. She's not very big, she's kinda tiny, but I like her."

The Boss Baby star is currently fighting two civil lawsuits brought against him following the death of 42-year-old Hutchins on the set of Rust in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Baldwin maintains he did not pull the trigger of the antique prop gun, but that it went off when he pulled the hammer back.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident.
