Alien: Covenant Synopsis And Release Date Revealed

It’s official – ‘Alien: Covenant’ is the new name for the upcoming ‘Prometheus’ sequel… and it now has a synopsis and release date.

“Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ‘Alien’ with ‘Alien: Covenant’, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with ‘Prometheus’ — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction.”

Although Ridley Scott previously referred to the upcoming ‘Prometheus’ sequel as ‘Alien: Paradise Lost’, it looks as though 20th Century Fox has ditched that subtitle in favour of the far-more ominous ‘Alien: Covenant’.

And there’s even a pretty intriguing synopsis…

“Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the ‘synthetic’ David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

This raises plenty of questions… most importantly, what happened to Elizabeth Shaw?

At the end of ‘Prometheus’, we saw Shaw (played by Noomi Rapace) escape the moon LV-223 aboard an Engineer spacecraft… and she intended to track down the home planet of the mysterious engineer race.

Of course, she happened to have the disembodied have of David with her at the time… so how exactly has the ship’s android ended up as the sole survivor? And will we find out what happened to Elizabeth Shaw?

Did they find the Engineer’s home world? And is this what the crew of the Covenant will find at the end of their journey? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘Alien: Covenant’ heads to cinemas on 6 October 2017.
