All eight seasons of 'Game Of Thrones' embroidered on 90-metre tapestry
A team of 30 embroiders have meticulously recreated all eight seasons of Game Of Thrones on a 90-metre long tapestry for the Ulster Museum in Belfast.
“From Winterfell to the Iron Islands, this epic tapestry brings to life the infamous events, locations and story of the most popular television series of all time,” reads the description of the Game Of Thrones Tapestry on the museum’s website.

“With blood red weddings, golden Lannister hair, emerald green wildfire, cold-blue White Walkers and jet black ravens, admire their chain stitch, split stitch, back stitch, running stitch and seed stitch as you stroll along the tapestry.”
“From King Joffrey’s golden crown to Daenerys’ shimmering white and silver hair, threads of metallic, cotton and silk yarns bring vibrancy and lustre to the most popular television series of all time.”
Valerie Wilson, who works as the National Museums Northern Ireland’s costume and textiles curator, insists that the tapestry is “the perfect medium for telling the story of the Game Of Thrones.”
The piece has been made in the same style as the revered Bayeux Tapestry, with Wilson telling The Guardian that they both have a “series of repeated icons through it.”
The embroiders are now hard at word stitching the eighth and final series onto the Game Of Thrones Tapestry, and once they’ve finished it will then be transported to the Bayeux Museum in France where it will hang next to the illustrious piece of cloth.

However, despite recreating the story of Game Of Thrones, Wilson admits that new storytelling ideas are used in order to make the tapestry stand out. “It was very crucial when the project launched that it had that new, fresh, almost surprise element.”
Unfortunately the violence on Game Of Thrones means that the tapestry does come with a warning, as before entering a museum display reads, “Due to the depiction of graphic scenes, viewing of the tapestry is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18.”
