All3Media Acquires Sam Mendes’ Neal Street

LONDON — All3Media has acquired Sam Mendes’ production company Neal Street, which produces “Penny Dreadful.”

Neal Street was set up in 2003 by Mendes, who won an Oscar for “American Beauty” and is currently directing his second James Bond film, “Spectre,” Pippa Harris, who is a former head of drama commissioning at the BBC, and Caro Newling. They were joined in 2013 by Nicolas Brown, who is a former director of U.K. drama production at the BBC.

The company’s TV slate include the BAFTA award-winning series for the BBC “Call the Midwife,” which has sold to more than 200 countries worldwide, and its Shakespeare adaptations, “The Hollow Crown,” for PBS and the BBC.

Its movies include “Revolutionary Road,” “Jarhead” and “Starter for Ten.” The theater slate includes “Shrek the Musical” and “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.”

All3Media, which is owned jointly by Discovery Communications and Liberty Global, is comprised of 21 production and distribution companies. These include Apollo20, Bentley Prods., Company Pictures, IDTV, John Stanley Prods., Lime Pictures, Lion Television, Little Dot Studios, Maverick Television, MME Moviement, Morocco Junction, North One Television, Objective Prods., Optomen, One Potato Two Potato, South Pacific Pictures, Studio Lambert, Zoo Prods., All3Media America and All3Media Intl.
