It's official: Amazon Prime's The Boys is 'more popular' than any Marvel Netflix show – at least according to data analytics firm Parrot Analytics.

In a recent report from Screen Rant, Parrot Analytics compared the first season of Amazon's The Boys to the first seasons of Netflix's Marvel shows, noting that the first outing of the Amazon Prime superhero caper chartered a much more notable trajectory than rival Marvel shows such as Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

Analysts picked up on the fact that demand for The Boys was higher than that of the Netflix shows before it aired, which saw demand 'increased by a factor of three' in the week leading up to its release thanks to a strong marketing approach by Amazon Prime.

Meanwhile, the analytics firm pointed out that, in comparison, Netflix didn't really spend much money on marketing, instead relying on the Netflix algorithm to recommend shows to viewers.

So it seems, sometimes, man really is more powerful than machine.

Interest in The Boys wasn't confined to its build-up and initial week of release either, as it's noted in the report that interest in the series didn't follow the typical streaming pattern, which usually sees interest drop off quickly once all the episodes have been released.

Instead, interest in The Boys actually increased over the two weeks after its premiere before finally peaking a fortnight later, with word of mouth and marketing being credited for the show's increasing popularity and demand remaining at a high level for much of its first month of release.

The data also shows that while The Boys is dropping towards a base level now, it's again expected to be higher than that of the Marvel shows, securing its new title of Most Popular Superhero Series.

Well, at least until the Disney+ shows premiere.

So, what's next for the hit superhero series? Well, interest in The Boys is likely to be sustained, with a second season currently filming.

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke recently shared the first picture of the new season, with one of the show's stars Karl Urban also teasing a peek at what's ahead for the show.

And, if that's not enough for you, we've put together a list of questions the series needs to answer in season 2, so you can join us in guessing theories – and trying to figure out who's under the Black Noir mask.

The Boys season 1 is now available on Amazon Prime Video. Season 2 is expected to arrive in 2020.
