Adam Sandler’s output for Netflix has received some of the most scathing reviews ever published.

Since the comedy star signed a four-picture deal with the streaming service at the end of 2014, he’s produced spoof western ‘The Ridiculous 6’ and action comedy ‘The Do-Over’.

His penultimate effort ‘Sandy Wexler’, a 90-set comedy about a low-rent Hollywood talent manager, has been similarly – though not quite as severely – pummelled following its recent release.

But despite all this, new figures from Netflix show that Sandler’s output has proved to be a roaring success.

Whether it’s due to genuine affection or gawping at the wreckage is unclear, but according to the streaming giant, its users have watched a staggering 500 million hours of Sandler.

The numbers came as part of an earnings report for the first quarter of 2017, which proclaimed ‘Since the launch of The Ridiculous 6′, Netflix members have spent more than half a billion hours enjoying the films of Adam Sandler’.

“We continue to be excited by our Sandler relationship and our members continue to be thrilled with his films,” it added.

The aforementioned ‘The Ridiculous 6’ has the ignominious honour of having a rare 0% approval rating on reviews aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, meaning that it received not a single positive review.

The Wrap accused the movie of being ‘everything wrong with Hollywood for the past two decades’.

Veteran critic Richard Roeper added: “Thanks for nothing, Netflix.”

However, it appears that Netflix may have had the last laugh.
