Amy Schumer Says Her “Heart Is Broken” Following Cinema Shooting

Amy Schumer has expressed her shock and sadness after learning that the shooting in a Lafayette, Louisiana cinema last night took place during a screening of her new movie ‘Trainwreck’.

The comedian released a short statement on Twitter, writing, “My heart is broken and all my thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Louisiana.”

A 58-year-old gunman opened fire during the film, killing two people before turning the gun on himself. Ten others were taken to hospital. His identity is known to police, but has not yet been released to the public.

Witness Katie Domingue, told The Advertiser that the man “wasn’t saying anything. I didn’t hear anybody screaming either.”

The tragedy comes on the heels of the guilty verdict handed to James Holmes, who was convicted last week of multiple counts of murder for his shooting spree inside a Denver cinema.

Twelve people were killed and 70 injured in the July 2012 attack, which occurred during a screening of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.
