Ana Navarro slams report about her 'lavish' wedding: 'I am shamed'

Republican commentator Ana Navarro is clearing the air about her star-studded wedding.

The CNN contributor, 47, and her former Florida GOP chairman Al Cardenas, 71, tied the knot at Miami's Indiana Creek Country Club on March 2. Among those there? Eva Longoria, Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer, Mitt Romney and "The View" personalities Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin.

Following news that she got married, the Washington Examiner ran a story about her wedding titled, "Wedding registries reveal expensive tastes of Florida's leading Never Trumpers." The article called out several of the expensive items listed on Navarro's wedding registry at places like Macy's, Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn.

On that list of things Navarro wanted? "'Michael Aram Palm Cocktail Napkin Holders' ($65), 'sustainably sourced' striped pool towels at $39.50, a dozen 'Villeroy & Boch Buffet Plate Mandarin Chargers' ($89.99 each), three 'Squared Zen Melamine Large Green Leaf Platter' ($46 each) and a 'Bedgear Dri-Tec King Sheet Set' at $248.99. The most expensive item still visible was a tall black 'Pedestal Planter' at $379 and Macy's tableware totaled $6328.08."

The contributor to "The View" took to Twitter to condemn the story and denied that Sen. Bob Menendez was at her wedding, as the story claimed.

"Sen. Menendez is my friend, not client. He wasn’t at wedding. Was at a funeral in NJ," she wrote.

"I didn’t sell rights to wedding," she said, alluding to the article's claims that she sold exclusive rights to People magazine.

"$39 towels from Pottery Barn sound so 'lavish,'" she said in reaction to the call-outs about her registry. "Oooh. I’m so shamed."

"Yes," she added of the article saying she's a "staunch defender of gay rights." "I support gay rights."

Though she may not have sold rights to her wedding to People, she did give the outlet exclusive quotes about her nuptials and relationship, opening up about the fact that she actually met her husband 25 years ago.

"It wasn’t the right time back then, so we became very good friends through the years and through the decades,” Navarro told People. "Finally, things fell into place, things worked out and we’re able to be here today."

The commentator, who is outspoken about her disdain for President Trump, further opened up about her wedding on Tuesday's episode of "The View."

"We worked so hard on this in a very short time and everything came out exactly like I wanted," Navarro said. "It felt perfect. The flowers looked gorgeous, beyond what I expected, I didn't try the food, because I was too worried I would burst out of my dress. [...] Everybody who did told me it was terrific. I really did just love the the vibe."

"I wanted it to be fun, I wanted people to dance, to celebrate, to have a good time," she added. "We literally had to kick people out of there at 1 or 2 in the morning, and that's what I'll remember most."
