Anna Kendrick to play Cinderella in Into The Woods

Pitch Perfect star in talks to join cast of Disney's big budget musical

'Pitch Perfect' star Anna Kendrick is the latest big name to be attracted to Disney's big budget adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Broadway musical, 'Into The Woods'.



She's in talks to play Cinderella, in a week when Sir Kenneth Branagh's own fairytale project has announced that Helena Bonham Carter will play the character's wicked stepmother.

Kendrick joins a truly stellar cast who have already been connected to the film: Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Corden, Emily Blunt, Tracy Ullman and Christine Baranski are all in the final stages of talks to appear in the musical.

Directed by Rob Marshall and due to start production in London in September, the musical tells the story of a baker (Corden) and his wife (Blunt) who seek to lift a curse on their family.

They journey into a forest and encounter a plethora of fairytale characters including a wolf (Depp) a witch and, of course, Cinderella with her Prince Charming (played by Pine).

Kendrick is currently filming another musical: 'The Last 5 Years', directed by Richard LaGravenese.
