Rashida Jones

After plenty of rumours about who might appear as the iconic 'Ant-Man' it looks as though he may get a love interest in the shape of Rashida Jones.

It may be one of Marvel's lesser-known titles to mainstream cinema audiences, but since Edgar Wright was attached to 'Ant-Man' there's been plenty of speculation about who might star as the pint-sized superhero. But now it looks as though the attention has turned towards his wife and sidekick, Janet Van Dyne (otherwise known as The Wasp). And it seems Rashida Jones is rumoured to be up for the part.

According to somewhat questionable sources over at Superhero Movie News, the 37-year-old actress is tipped to be Marvel's frontrunner for the role of The Wasp.

"It seems that Parks & Recreation star Rashida Jones is on top of Marvel's shortlist for the role of Janet Van Dyne," they explain. "Rashida Jones is said to be Marvel's top pick for her 'chemistry with the other actors'."

Obviously, this seems to refer to Paul Rudd, who has starred opposite Rashida Jones in both 'I Love You, Man' and 'Our Idiot Brother'. And this has already led some to speculate that the recent rumours that Paul Rudd is being considered for Ant-Man may also be true… or at the very least, the rumours may be linked in some way.

"Janet would be a love interest and a major supporting character," their sources explained. "We would see multiple references to her future as The Wasp throughout the film."

If the rumour is to be believed, it looks as though The Wasp won't appear as the superhero sidekick just yet. And it seems to suggest more of a Pepper Potts style role in the upcoming movie. Whether or not the rumours are true remains to be seen… Nevertheless, it's promising that we could see The Wasp (or Janet Van Dyne) appear on the big-screen at last.

As for Rashida Jones, I can't help thinking she'd make a great Janet Van Dyne. But would she star opposite Paul Rudd or someone else entirely? It looks as though we'll have to wait to find out.

Do you think Rashida Jones will appear in 'Ant-Man'? Would she make a good Janet Van Dyne? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
