Ant-Man: Rashida Jones tipped for role as The Wasp

Parks and Recreation star rumoured for Ant-Man’s love interest

It may be one of Marvel's lesser-known titles to mainstream cinema audiences, but since Edgar Wright was attached to 'Ant-Man' there's been plenty of speculation about who might star as the pint-sized superhero.

But now attention has turned towards his wife and sidekick, Janet Van Dyne (otherwise known as The Wasp), and it seems Rashida Jones is rumoured to be up for the part.

According to unconfirmed sources over at Superhero Movie News, the 37-year-old actress is tipped to be Marvel's frontrunner for the role of The Wasp.

"It seems that Parks & Recreation star Rashida Jones is on top of Marvel's shortlist for the role of Janet Van Dyne," they explain. "Rashida Jones is said to be Marvel's top pick for her 'chemistry with the other actors'."

This seems to refer to Paul Rudd, who has starred opposite Rashida Jones in both 'I Love You, Man' and 'Our Idiot Brother'. The actor's name has recently been strongly linked to the role of Ant-Man.

"Janet would be a love interest and a major supporting character," the source added. "We would see multiple references to her future as The Wasp throughout the film."

If the rumour is to be believed, it looks as though The Wasp won't appear as the superhero sidekick just yet, suggesting more of a Pepper Potts-style role in the upcoming movie. Nevertheless, it's promising that we could see The Wasp, or Janet Van Dyne, appear on the big screen at last.
