Anthony Hopkins to play 969-year-old man

Signed up for Aronofsky's 'Noah'

Sir Anthony Hopkins is to join the cast of Darren Aronofsky's forthcoming biblical epic 'Noah'.

The Welsh acting legend is set to play Methuselah, one of the oldest men in the bible, who is said to have died at the ripe age of 969.

Aronofksy, whose last film 'Black Swan' hauled him five Oscar nominations - as well as winning Best Actress for Natalie Portman - tweeted the news of Hopkins signing up.

“I'm honoured to be working with the great Sir Anthony Hopkins,” he said. “We just added him to the stellar cast of Noah.”

And the cast is indeed stellar.

He joins Russell Crowe in the lead as Mesopotamian ark builder Noah, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson and Ray Winstone among those signed up so far.

It's expected to start shooting later this summer, with a release set for March, 2014.
