Antonio Banderas reveals cut Paddington 3 musical credit scene
We're all obsessed with Phoenix Buchanan singing 'Rain on the Roof' in the Paddington 2 credit scene, and it could well have had competition from Paddington in Peru.
The new movie already has a musical number by Olivia Colman's Reverend Mother, but Antonio Banderas has revealed to Digital Spy that there was talk about him doing a special musical number in a credit scene.
"There was a moment, at some point, they said for the end credits, that they wanted to do a musical number with all the characters," he told Digital Spy, referring to the fact that he appears as various ancestors of Hunter Cabot during the movie.
"At the end, there was no time or maybe no budget, I don't know, or they thought better about it. I wouldn't have minded to do it, I love musicals, I think it's a beautiful art form."

In a separate interview with Digital Spy, producer Rosie Alison confirmed that they "ran out of time" to do that particular credit scene.
However, it sounds like we shouldn't leave when the credits start anyway. "We did have a rather wonderful other credit sequence, which we thought we would leave space to enjoy," she teased.
Even if we didn't get an extra appearance from Hunter Cabot during the credits, Banderas does get to have fun during the movie exploring the various ancestors of his character, leading to some unique filming moments.
"It was fun, actually, just to be on both sides. There is a moment that I am actually punching myself and slapping myself and I had to play both sides and to do it with nobody," he recalled.
"I was just doing it by myself and then they did the other side and they inserted me. I don't know how they did it, but it was actually punching myself."

Originally, Hunter's daughter Gina was going to be played by Rachel Zegler before she had to drop out due to the 2023 strikes. Carla Tous took on the role instead, and found an instant bond with her on-screen father.
"It just felt like it was meant to be. We met, we started bonding over things that we had in common which is basically musicals, we both love musicals," she revealed.
"And then he's just an amazing human being, an amazing actor and it wasn't hard work to make people believe that we are father and daughter."
Ahead of the movie's release, Hugh Bonneville also spoke to Digital Spy about the seven-year wait for Paddington in Peru, while the cast addressed Emily Mortimer taking over the role of Mrs Brown.
Paddington in Peru is released in UK cinemas on November 8 and in US cinemas on January 17, 2025.
