Architect Builds Dark Knight-Inspired House Complete With Batcave

From the outside, this recently renovated heritage house looks like a regular, if incredibly opulent, home. But beneath the surface of its grounds lies a secret. For this is no ordinary house, it’s a house with an alter ego… and a Batcave.

Australian architecture firm Molecule has created a home fit for Bruce Wayne and Batman by adding a vast underground garage to the house inspired by the one used by Christian Bale in ‘The Dark Knight’.

The “Batcave”, which houses the resident’s sizeable supercar collection, has been concealed beneath the house’s garden and is accessed by a secret hydraulic ramp that rises up in the tennis court.

Ceiling lights and mirrored walls are used to create the illusion of “an endless, sky-lit space” in the garage, which is also linked to the house via a glass-roofed tunnel.

Molecule says the project, appropriately dubbed “Wayne Residence”, “hovers between past and future – entirely appropriate for the contemporary renovation of a house with an important place in history.”

It’s not clear how much the renovation costs, or even where this opulent residence is located, but one thing’s for sure: You’d need the bank balance of a playboy billionaire to make it happen.
