Armie Hammer Joins Alicia Vikander in Ben Wheatley’s ‘Freakshift’

Armie Hammer will join Alicia Vikander in director Ben Wheatley’s “Freakshift,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

The action thriller is about a band of misfit cops who hunt down and kill nocturnal underground monsters. Hammer will play Vikander’s love interest.

This marks a reunion between Hammer and Wheatley, as Hammer will also star in Wheatley’s “Free Fire” co-starring Brie Larson that will hit theaters on April 24.

Wheatley wrote the script for “Freakshift” with Amy Jump. Andrew Starke, Wheatley’s producing partner, is producing via their Rook Films banner.

Hammer most recently starred in “Nocturnal Animals” alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams, as well as “Mine.” He will next star in “Call Me by Your Name,” “Hotel Mumbai” and “Cars 3,” in which he voices Jackson Storm.

Wheatley’s most recent credits include “High-Rise,” which he directed and edited, as well as “The Greasy Strangler,” on which he served as an executive producer.

Hammer is represented by WME, while Wheatley is represented by WME and Independent Talent Group.
