It looks as though ‘Assassin’s Creed’ is already getting a sequel.
According to The Tracking Board, the upcoming ‘Assassin’s Creed’ videogame adaptation will be getting a sequel… and the studio is already working on bring it to the screen.
“The adaptation of the blockbuster video game Assassin’s Creed from New Regency isn’t set to bow until December, but The Tracking Board has learned that the company is officially underway with plans for the sequel, ‘Assassin’s Creed 2’.”
Michael Fassbender stars as Callum Lynch in the upcoming ‘Assassin’s Creed’ – a man whose genetic history results in him being pulled into a futuristic conspiracy, where he is forced to relive the life of his assassin ancestor, Aguilar.
It looks as though Michael Fassbender will reprise his roles for the sequel…
“With star Michael Fassbender on board, the stage is set for a new action-adventure franchise starring the two-time Academy Award nominee.”
And he isn’t the only one said to be back.
“The sequel sees familiar names from the yet-to-be-released title’s production team, with Jean-Julien Baronnet producing for Ubisoft Motion Pictures, Frank Marshall producing through his Kennedy-Marshall Company, while Fassbender and Conor McCaughan will produce through their DMC Films shingle. Matt Phelps will oversee for Ubisoft, while Pam Abdy will oversee for New Regency.”
Of course, considering the reputation of videogame movies in general, this seems like quite the unexpected move… and it certainly sounds as though the studio has plenty of confidence in Michael Fassbender’s debut outing in ‘Assassin’s Creed’.
Does this mean the film will be any good?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but it’s looking good so far.
‘Assassin’s Creed’ heads to cinemas on 30 December 2016.
