Only last year Australian billionaire mining tycoon Clive Palmer was rumoured to be developing his own real-life 'Jurassic Park'.

So far that's not yet materialised, but his new plan, to build the Titanic II ocean liner, may also have a cinematic angle.

In fact, he's planning to make – and have a cameo role in – a film around the project.

“Due to worldwide interest in @titanic_ii I've registered 'Palmer Pictures'. Will look at making a movie about its maiden voyage #titanic,” he tweeted.

“@titanic_ii The ship where dreams come true.”

Since his missives, he's revealed further details about his planned foray into the movie business, adding that his film will be 'a lot better' than James Cameron's 1997 Oscar-trawler.

“It will be a love story,” he told the AFP. “We have a lot of actors from Hollywood, China and Europe who want to star in roles.

“My father George had Palmer Pictures originally back in the 1920s and he made two silent films in Australia.

"The script is still being worked on and of course we would be seeking major Hollywood stars and production people to be involved in the movie project."

Of his proposed cameo, he added: “I could be in a deckchair having a drink.”

Construction of his boat, which will remain as true as possible to the original doomed liner's design, will begin next March in China.

Meanwhile, he still plans to build the world's biggest dinosaur park, featuring giant robotic dinosaurs, in his resort on the Sunshine Coast in Australia.
