Elizabeth Olsen is Joss Whedon and Marvel's new pick to play Wanda Maximoff aka The Scarlet Witch in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', after their first pick Saoirse Ronan turned the role down.
According to Bleeding Cool sources director Whedon is unfazed by Ronan's decision to pass on the part, and is confident in getting his new choice.
Olsen is a good alternative too. A rising star, the 24-year-old who made a name for herself in 2011's 'Martha Marcy May Marlene' will be a much bigger star come 2015 after the release of her two biggest projects to date, 'Oldboy' and 'Godzilla', next year.
Whedon has been open about the inclusion of The Scarlet Witch and her brother Quicksilver in the project. It has been rumoured that Quicksilver will be played by 'Kick Ass's Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who as it happens will star alongside Olsen in next year's 'Godzilla' reboot.
The characters have come with some controversy though as there is a significant overlap with the 'X-Men' franchise currently in 20th Century Fox's possession. The pair are the children of Magneto, and Quicksilver will play a part in Bryan Singer's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' next year.
On screen the two Quicksilvers will be entirely different, and as of yet there has been no animosity between Marvel Studios and Fox over the use of the character. Don't expect Magneto to get a mention in 'Avengers 2' however.
Ben Skipper is a big Marvel nut and proud Whedonite. Impressed by what Marvel have done with their 'Avengers' films, he won't be truly satisfied until Mark Ruffalo's Hulk gets his own movie. Come on Marvel, make it happen already! You can follow Ben on Twitter @bskipper27.
