Yahoo Movies Bad Boys for Life's Martin Lawrence explains why Marcus's sister didn't return
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence may be back for one last ride in Bad Boys For Life, but there's one notable omission from the cast.
Despite having a significant role in Bad Boys 2 as Marcus Burnett's (Lawrence) sister Syd, Gabrielle Union doesn't make an appearance in the third, and supposedly last instalment, of the franchise.

Quizzed about her absence from the film during a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club radio show, Lawrence said: "I just think we took a different story turn."
Smith then added: "Yeah, there was no spot in the story, like where would that work for those characters – but definitely for Bad Boys 4!"

Smith's reference to a fourth instalment may have been tongue-in-cheek, but when asked if another film could be a possibility, he didn't completely rule it out.
"We're going to let the audience decide," he said. "I love working with this dude [Martin Lawrence], and I'm at the point in my life where I only want to do something if I'm going to have fun. I'll take half the money it can be as long as I have fun."
Bad Boys For Life arrives in cinemas on January 17, 2020.
