Leonardo DiCaprio won the Best Actor prize at the 2016 BAFTAs for his performance in ‘The Revenant’.

He beat Bryan Cranston (‘Trumbo’), Eddie Redmayne (‘The Danish Girl’), Matt Damon (‘The Martian’) and Michael Fassbender (‘Steve Jobs’) to the prize.

With a Golden Globe and now a BAFTA win for ‘The Revenant’, it’s surely inevitable that Leo will win that long overdue Oscar next.

DiCaprio thanked his mother in his speech at London’s Royal Opera House and said he was “absolutely honoured by this award”.

“As an actor I’ve been influenced by so many British actors. I want to thank one particular British actor and that is Mr Tom Hardy.

"Of course, Alejandro, thank you for becoming a great friend.”

Leo certainly earned his award, after shooting the film on location in freezing conditions in Argentina and Canada. The vegan actor even had to eat a raw bison heart during the production.

The actor is now a whopping 1/40 to win Best Actor at the Oscars.
