Bateman, Kidman team up for The Family Fang

Having landed a hit at the Toronto festival with his directorial debut Bad Words, Jason Bateman is set to step behind the camera once more.

Deadline reports that the actor will direct Nicole Kidman in an adaptation of Kevin Wilson's bestseller, The Family Fang.

Bateman will also star in the movie, which tells the story of a pair of performance artists who routinely pressure their kids into taking part in a variety of bizarre stunts.

When the grown up children return home having fallen on hard times and blaming their unorthodox upbringing for their failures in life, they are unwittingly enlisted to help in the execution of a daring and mysterious final performance by their parents, who are hellbent on achieving the act of a lifetime.

Produced by Kidman's Blossom Films, principal photography on the project is set to start next year.
