Batgirl Cut From Batman v Superman?

Has Batgirl been cut from ‘Batman v Superman’?

Jena Malone, the actress long-rumoured to be playing Jim Gordon’s daughter Barbara Gordon in this summer’s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, has apparently been axed from the theatrical cut of Zack Synder’s film.

In the comics Barbara Gordon fought crime under the Batgirl mantle before being paralysed by Joker. She later assumed the role of Oracle, Batman’s computer expert and tactical advisor.

Entertainment Weekly revealed the ‘Hunger Games’ star had been dropped from the cinema release in a feature about the future of the DC Universe revealing that her “secret” character hadn’t made the final cut.

They add that her character would be included in the extended R-rated “Ultimate Edition” coming to DVD and Blu-ray in the future.

The magazine promises to reveal more about the extended cut of ‘BvS’ later today.

Malone’s character in the film has been a mystery ever since her casting was announced, with many assuming she was playing Robin after she was photographed with bright orange hair, reminiscent of Carrie Kelley, the ‘Dark Knight Returns’ era Robin.

‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ is coming to cinemas on 25 March.
