After Heath Ledger's amazing performance in 'The Dark Knight' could we see the return of the Joker? Actor John Leguizamo certainly hopes so, and thinks he'd be perfect for the role…

It may be early days when it comes to DC's 'Batman vs. Superman' but it's already given us plenty to think about. With the return of the Dark Knight, it's hard not to wonder who will be playing Batman in his latest big-screen outing… but which iconic Batman villains will make an appearance? And who will play them? It seems that actor John Leguizamo thinks would love to play the Joker. But would he be perfect for the role?

[Batman vs. Superman: Early Batman casting rumours]

In an interview with Desde Hollywood, actor John Leguizamo admitted that he'd love the chance to play the Joker in an upcoming Batman movie…

"Just because I have to represent my Latin people," he explained. "It's crazy. I went to Comic-Con and 50% were Latin, Black and Asian. I said 'Come on! We are so under-represented and we support the whole industry'."

But would he take on the iconic role once played by fellow Latin-American, Cesar Romero? It looks as though the 'Kick-Ass 2' actor has had enough of comic-book movies for a while, but he'd never say never…

[Batman vs. Superman: New Batman will be older?]

"I am not against comic-book movies. I just feel that I have seen enough zombies, vampires and apocalyptic comic-book super heroes in my lifetime. I want to see real people on screen for a while."

"But hell yeah," he added. "I would do Batman. The Joker would be a blast!"

Of course, John Leguizamo is no stranger to clown-faced makeup - having played The Violator in the 1997 movie adaptation of 'Spawn'. But could he pull off the twisted and downright sinister Joker?

The last time we saw a Latin-American Joker was back when Cesar Romero played the iconic villain opposite Adam West in the 1960s. But can anyone really top Heath Ledger's performance in 'The Dark Knight'? Obviously, someone will have to try eventually… but will it be John Leguizamo? I can't help thinking he might make a pretty good Joker... but I'm sure there are plenty of others clamouring to take Ledger's place.

Do you think John Leguizamo would make a good Joker? Who would you like to see as the iconic Batman villain? Let us know in the comments below…
