While Theresa May managed to cling on to her role as Prime Minister following Wednesday’s no confidence vote, it seems there’s another person in the running for the job.

Batman.

A subtitle error on the BBC’s live broadcast of the vote appeared to show Environment Secretary Michael Gove rule out Batman as Prime Minister.

During Mr Gove’s speech, the words “that man” were mistakenly subtitled as “Batman”, resulting in the phrase: “no way can this country ever allow Batman to be our Prime Minister”.

The error was captured by Press Association journalist Nina Massey, who posting screen-grabs on Twitter, with the comment: “Excellent subtitle error as Michael Gove winds down no confidence debate.”

While Mr Gove’s words actually referred to Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, the prospect of Batman as PM has proven popular online.
