Batman V Superman: First Clark Kent Image

Amidst all the excitement about the DC Comics characters set to make their first big screen appearance in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ we might have almost forgotten that the film will also see Henry Cavill reprise the role of Superman.

Well, in case you needed reminding of that fact, here’s what would appear to be our first look at Cavill on set and in costume - as mild-mannered Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent, the secret identity glimpsed only briefly in ‘Man of Steel.’

Interestingly, this photo was released not by DC or Warner Bros, but by the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, who shared the image on Twitter, with the caption: “A treat for a Monday morning for all our #HenryCavill fans. Henry is a great supporter of the @RM1664Challenge! “

The Royal Marines 1664 Challenge is an event being held in commemoration of 350 years since the founding of the Royal Marines, which will see commandos will ‘ski, sail, cycle, canoe and run 4000 miles in 2014.’

Certainly sounds like a challenge worthy of Superman himself…

Cavill only donned the reporter’s suit, tie and glasses (the latter of which is notably absent in the photo) at the climax of his first outing as Superman - presumably we’ll see him pursue his journalistic path a little further in the follow-up.

For those keeping count, that’s the third of our core heroes we’ve seen in costume from ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ - with Gal Gadot having been caught in spy photos as Diana Prince, and rather more notably Ben Affleck’s Batman revealed in official images from director Zack Snyder himself.

Why, it’s almost enough to leave us wishing we’d seen Affleck’s Bruce Wayne… but let’s face it, they’d better pace themselves with these reveals if they hope from ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ to hold some surprises once it finally arrives in May 2016.
