After our exclusive Q&A with 'Man of Steel' director Zack Snyder, it looks as though Kevin Smith got a glimpse of the new Batman in his suit… and he seems pretty impressed.
If there's one thing you can count on when it comes to the 'Batman' franchise, it's that each new appearance of the Dark Knight will bring its own, unique costume. From utility belts to bat-nipples, we've seen Batman go through plenty of different styles. And it looks as though 'Batman vs. Superman' is no different. After seeing a first glimpse of the new Bat-suit, Kevin Smith has revealed it's like nothing we've seen on film before.
Snyder was understandably cautious during our live Q&A and was obviously reluctant to reveal any new details about the upcoming 'Batman vs. Superman' movie. But behind closed doors, it seems that he may have showed off the new costume to our host, Kevin Smith.
Of course, Kevin couldn't keep quiet about it for long and revealed all during his weekly podcast, Hollywood Babble-On.
"I saw the costume," he explained. "More than that, I saw [Ben Affleck] in the costume."
"I don't want to give anything away cause that is up to them and stuff, but I am going to say this - I instantly bear hugged him. You have not seen this costume in film before. Because every other movie has done this matrixy black armour thing… There wasn't a single nipple on this f**king suit man. I think everyone is gonna be like 'Holy Shit!' We haven't been down this path before."
Of course, he couldn't help teasing the fans by almost-revealing what the costume seems to be influenced by… before bleeping out the important part.
"It seemed like it was very [Bleep] influenced."
Over the past few weeks, there's been plenty of talk about the new Bat-suit… including rumours that it would be based on the works of Lee Bermejo. Sporting shorter ears and the distinctive comic book grey and black colour scheme, it's certainly something we haven't seen on film before.
And if you ask me, this is exactly what we should expect. It certainly makes a lot of sense that an older, grittier Batman would wear a more urban-combat focussed Bat-suit. And Lee Bermejo's style used that to great effect. Whether Bermejo's style is used or not, I think it's safe to say that the new at-suit is likely to sport the iconic grey and black colours. And I'm sure that's going to make 'Batman' fans very happy.
What do you think of Kevin Smith's comments? Will we finally see a grey and black Bat-suit? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
