BBC Reporter Sima Kotecha Called A 'P*ki' In Her Home Town

Following Friday’s EU referendum result there has been a string of reports of racist and xenophobic attacks across the UK.

Now high profile BBC reporter Sima Kotecha has become the latest victim of a hate crime, with the journalist taking to social media to reveal that she was in “utter shock” after being called a ‘p*ki’ in her home town.

Sima admitted that she hadn’t heard the slur since the 80s and was understandably heartbroken by the comment.

Writing on Twitter, Sima shared: “In utter shock: just been called p**i in my home town! Haven’t heard that word here since the 80s..!”

It comes shortly after it was revealed that the number of hate crimes reported to police has increased to 57% since the UK voted to leave Europe last week.

Sadly, many of Sima’s followers responded with their own accounts of racist abuse over the past few days with many offering the saddened reporter their support.

Labour MP Paula Sheriff also responded, dubbing the attack “absolutely shocking”, revealing that she was aware of many other incidents of a similar nature in the area.

Sima thanked her followers for their kind messages, writing: “Wow really touched by the outpouring of support - THANK YOU.

"Your messages make me SO proud to be British.”

However, her thanks were tainted when a cruel troll responded with: “You will NEVER be British as far as I’m concerned”, with Sima retweeting and simply commenting “astonishing”.
