The Beetlejuice sequel has revealed its official title in a first-look poster.

A post on Warner Bros social media and director Tim Burton's Instagram on Thursday (February 1) teased the movie will be called Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

This title would be quite tongue-in-cheek because everyone knows that if you said the Ghost with the Most's name a third time, he'd appear!

Burton's teaser image also reiterates that Beetlejuice 2 will still be released on September 6, 2024 — thus confirming it will not be delayed due to last year's writer and actor's strike.

Burton and the Beetlejuice 2 cast started filming the sequel last spring, but production was temporarily shut down when the actors' strike started in July.

The long-awaited sequel will bring back Michael Keaton as the title character, alongside Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz and Catherine O'Hara as Lydia's eccentric stepmother Delia Deetz.

Burton's Wednesday star Jenna Ortega leads the newcomers as Lydia's daughter Astrid Deetz, while Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe also have major roles in the sequel.

Other new cast members include Game of Thrones' Burn Gorman, White House Plumbers star Justin Theroux and newcomer Arthur Conti.

Burton has worked on a potential sequel to Beetlejuice on and off since 1990, but the project seriously started taking shape in 2022 when Brad Pitt's production company Plan B Entertainment came on board.

He will be directing the sequel from a script co-written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the writing team behind Smallville and Into the Badlands. The story came from It Chapter Two's Seth Grahame-Smith.

The original 1988 film made more than $70 million at the worldwide box office and won an Academy Award for Best Makeup.

Beetlejuice 2 — or Beetlejuice Beetlejuice — will open in cinemas on September 6, 2024.
