Beetlejuice Star Geena Davis Joins The Exorcist

It looks as though Geena Davis will star in ‘The Exorcist’ TV show.

According to Deadline, the 60-year-old actress, best known for her roles in ‘The Fly’ and ‘Beetlejuice’, is joining the upcoming Fox TV series.

“Geena Davis is set to star opposite Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels in The Exorcist,” they revealed, “Fox’s drama pilot inspired by William Blatty’s 1971 book.”

“The Exorcist, penned by feature writer Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four), is described as a modern reinvention of the book, previously adapted into William Friedkin’s classic horror movie.”

The upcoming TV adaptation of ‘The Exorcist’ is said to be a modern interpretation of the 1971 book… and sees Father Tomas Ortega (played by Alfonso Herrera) and Father Marcus Lang (played by Ben Daniels) tackle a family’s case of demonic possession.

And with Brianne Howey said to be the new show’s version of Regan, it looks as though ‘The Exorcist’ might be getting a more modern twist.

But who will Geena Davis be playing?

“Davis will play Angela Rance,” they explained. “Naturally beautiful, regal and proud but weighed down by stress, Angela does everything she can to stay positive and keep her faith even though her family is currently struggling. She can’t help but think, however, if perhaps her nightmares about a demon are a sign of what’s wrong.”

‘The Exorcist’ is penned by Jeremy Slater, with executive produces James Robinson, David Robinson and Barbara Wall as well as Slater himself.

Will it capture the same terrifying horror as the original?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but with Geena Davis on board, it looks as though ‘The Exorcist’ has just severely upped its game.
