Every time Ben Affleck is interviewed he’s asked about ‘The Batman’. And every time he provides an answer every single word of his is overly analysed for a clue as to when the blockbuster will finally be with us.

During his recent chat on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Ben Affleck once again provided an update on his planned solo adventure as the Caped Crusader, remarking, “I’m the gonna direct the next Batman. We’re working on it.”

Ben Affleck then admitted that while he completely understands why people are so eager for updates on ‘The Batman’, he finds it increasingly frustrating that he has to repeatedly play down when it is going into production and might be released.

“It’s one of those things that’s really frustrating – with ‘Live By Night’, it took me a year and a half to write it and get it ready and I worked really hard, and nobody gave a s***. No one was like, ‘Where’s ‘Live By Night’?!’ But with ‘Batman’ I keep on getting, ‘Where’s the f***** ‘Batman’?!’ and I’m like, ‘I’m working! Can you give me a second?!’”

Ben Affleck’s history with ‘The Batman’ has been a roller coaster ride. Ever since he was cast as Bruce Wayne for ‘Batman v Superman’ back in August 2013 there has been speculation that he would oversee his own solo film, something that Affleck freely admitted was the plan.

Shortly after his debut as Bruce Wayne was released in March, 2016, Warner Bros. confirmed Affleck would write, direct and star in ‘The Batman’, and since then he has had to field question after question after question regarding the film. Understandably his quotes have become more and more muddled with each remark.

We’re now at the point where it’s probably best just to wait for Warner Bros. or Ben Affleck to actually confirm when ‘The Batman’ will start production and be released. Because while he’s clearly trying his damndest to get it to the big-screen, he’s only going to do so when it’s good and ready. Until then, though, we’ve got the release of the ‘Justice League’ in November to get excited about.
