Ben Affleck will be going up against some of Hollywood's biggest filmmakers at the Directors Guild Awards.
The 40-year-old star has been nominated for the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for 2012 gong for his movie Argo, and he'll go head-to-head with Kathryn Bigelow, Tom Hooper, Ang Lee and Steven Spielberg.
All the contenders except Ben are past nominees or winners of the coveted prize, reported Variety.
Ben said: "I am extremely proud and humbled to receive my first DGA nomination for Argo.
"On behalf of the entire directing team, I want to thank the Directors Guild for this tremendous honour. I also want to express my appreciation to all of my enormously talented colleagues on both sides of the camera. Argo is the result of all our work."
Kathryn is nominated for Zero Dark Thirty, Tom is nominated for Les Miserables, Ang is up for Life Of Pi and Steven got the nod for Lincoln.
The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony on February 2.
