Benedict Cumberbatch lands lead role in new Guy Ritchie movie
Benedict Cumberbatch has landed a lead role in new Guy Ritchie movie Wife & Dog.
The film, one of several upcoming projects for the director, will see Ritchie "return to the colourful, back-stabbing world of the British aristocracy" that he "explored in The Gentlemen film and TV series".
Further plot details are unknown, according to Deadline, though the movie will also star The Wheel of Time's Rosamund Pike and Thor's Anthony Hopkins, with Ritchie writing the screenplay alongside directing.

Ritchie has been very busy recently, earlier this year releasing his hit Netflix TV series The Gentlemen, as well as movie The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare starring Henry Cavill, Eiza González and Alan Ritchson.
Next up he will helm In the Grey starring Cavill, González and Pike alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, as well as Fountain of Youth with John Krasinski and Natalie Portman.
Ritchie will also direct a Young Sherlock show starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin for Prime Video, which is touted as an "explosive" origin story for the iconic detective.

Meanwhile, Cumberbatch recently starred in Netflix series Eric, which follows a distraught puppeteer who searches for his missing son.
The actor has a packed schedule coming up, and among his projects is The Roses – a remake of 1989's The War of the Roses (itself based on the 1981 Warren Adler novel) that focuses on a bitter divorce battle.
Co-starring Olivia Colman, the movie is being directed by Bombshell's Jay Roach, with Poor Things' Tony McNamara writing the screenplay and Cumberbatch and Colman on board as producers.
Wife & Dog will begin filming in February 2025, and is yet to confirm a release date. The Gentlemen is available to stream now on Netflix.
